Claude Now Preps Your Sales Calls and Drafts CRM Updates
Anthropic's Salesforce plugin lets Claude brief sellers before calls and draft CRM updates for a human to approve.

Quick Summary
- Anthropic and Salesforce launched Salesforce in Claude in beta on 15 September 2026, adding 37 skills for account research, call prep, pipeline review, and CRM updates.
- The plugin runs on a read data, draft update, human approves pattern, connected through Salesforce and Slack, with Salesforce staying the system of record.
- GitLab, Siemens, and Legora have already deployed it, and about 7,000 Salesforce sellers use it today; access is beta on all paid Claude plans, gated by admin approval.
- The same week, OpenAI confirmed its DevDay 2026 developer conference for 29 September in San Francisco, and Claude's own smart reports feature shipped in beta on 10 September.
Anthropic launched Salesforce in Claude on 15 September 2026, a beta plugin built with Salesforce that lets Claude read a seller's accounts and pipeline, prep meeting briefs, and draft CRM updates for a human to approve. It is one of the clearest examples yet of where Claude for business is moving: an assistant that does the paperwork behind a job, not just the chatting.
What did Anthropic announce about Claude for business?
The plugin adds 37 skills for the daily work of an account executive, covering account research, call preparation, pipeline review, and CRM updates. It connects through two channels: a Salesforce connector that can read data and act on it (summarise an account, update an opportunity, log a call, or create a follow-up task), and a Slack connector that reads and writes deal-channel summaries and account-team threads. The first time a seller opens it, a setup skill looks at their tools and book of business and builds a Claude Artifact around their own role.
With Salesforce in Claude, our sellers turn live data into meeting briefings in seconds instead of hours. As our sales team grows, every new rep starts with a full picture of the law firms we serve.from David Eckstein, Chief Financial Officer, Legora (Claude blog, 15 September 2026)
What can Claude actually do inside a seller's day?
- Morning brief: today's meetings, deals closing soon, at-risk opportunities, and unread threads that need a reply, wrapped into an update for the manager every Friday.
- Call prep: pulls context from Salesforce, Slack, and email, and adds any new stakeholder it finds in a thread as a contact on the account.
- Deal review: scores an opportunity against the team's own methodology, flags qualification gaps, and drafts a dated close plan and business case.
- After the call: turns the transcript or notes into a follow-up email, a Slack summary for the deal channel, and a draft update to the opportunity, left for the seller to approve.
Governance is built into the same flow. Salesforce stays the system of record, sellers sign in with their existing Salesforce credentials, Claude reads only what those permissions allow, and by default it asks for approval before writing any change back. Anthropic says customers GitLab, Siemens, and Legora have already deployed it, and about 7,000 Salesforce sellers use it today.
Do you need Salesforce to use this idea?
Most small businesses do not run Salesforce, so the specific plugin is not the point. The pattern underneath it is. Claude reads data from a tool you already use under your own permissions, drafts the update, and waits for a person to approve it before anything changes. A Sabah property agency running its leads in a spreadsheet, or an insurance team logging clients in WhatsApp and Google Sheets, can build the same shape of workflow with Claude's other connectors: a morning brief, a drafted follow-up, an update queued for approval, without needing an enterprise CRM to get there first.
Also today
- Claude shipped smart reports in beta on 10 September 2026, which show an Enterprise team how staff actually use Claude, what it costs, where sessions hit friction, and which repeated requests are worth turning into a shared skill (Claude Help Center).
- OpenAI has set its DevDay 2026 developer conference for 29 September in San Francisco, with technical sessions and hands-on demos of its developer tools (OpenAI).
What to do this week
If you run a small team, the takeaway is not to buy Salesforce. It is to notice which parts of your own admin work, call prep, follow-up emails, pipeline updates, already fit the read, draft, approve pattern Claude just shipped for sales teams. Our Master Claude AI for Business Productivity workshop covers exactly this: using Claude's connectors and scheduled tasks so Claude drafts the repeatable parts of your week and you approve the result.
Common Questions
- What is Salesforce in Claude?
- Salesforce in Claude is a beta plugin, launched by Anthropic and Salesforce on 15 September 2026, that lets Claude read a seller's Salesforce accounts and pipeline under their existing permissions. It adds 37 skills for account research, call preparation, pipeline review, and CRM updates, connected through Salesforce and Slack.
- Do I need Salesforce to benefit from Claude for business?
- No. Salesforce in Claude is one example of what Claude for business already does everywhere: read data from a tool you use, under your own permissions, and draft an update for you to approve. A small business running leads in a spreadsheet or WhatsApp can build the same kind of workflow with Claude's other connectors.
- Is Salesforce in Claude available now?
- It is in beta on all paid Claude plans, but only for organisations Salesforce approves. Admins request access through Salesforce's AgentExchange and connect Salesforce once for the whole organisation, and sellers then sign in with their existing Salesforce credentials to start using the plugin.
