Claude Can Now Write Your Report and Its Slides in One Chat

Anthropic merged Claude Cowork and chat into one Claude on 16 September 2026 and launched Claude Docs and Claude Slides the same day. Instead of picking a separate app for a bigger task, you can now ask Claude for a report, a document, or a slide deck from any conversation, and it builds the whole thing without you switching tools.

What did Anthropic announce about Claude Cowork and chat?

Claude Cowork was built as a separate place for longer running work, and Claude Design as a separate place for visual work. Anthropic says people used both and found the frustrating part was deciding where a task belonged, and that work started in one did not carry into the other. Now Claude figures out what a task needs on its own, so Cowork and Design capabilities are available from any chat, with the context, skills, and connectors already attached to your account. The change is rolling out on Pro and Max plans over the next few weeks, with Team and Free plans to follow.

What can Claude Docs and Claude Slides actually do?

• Write a document with you inside the chat, then let you edit any part directly by highlighting text and describing the change.
• Draft a slide deck from the same conversation that produced a report, so the numbers in both match without retyping anything.
• Download the result as a Word style document, a PowerPoint file, or a PDF, or present straight from Claude.
• Share anything made with Claude Docs, Slides, or Design at one link that opens on a phone, with elements you can move or ask Claude to change.
• Run on a schedule, for example a weekly pipeline report every Monday morning, with Claude checking in only when it needs a decision from you.

How could a small business use Claude Docs and Slides?

Most small and medium businesses do not run a dedicated Cowork workspace or separate design software, so the value here is not the merger itself. It is that report writing, slide preparation, and document drafting now sit in the same place as the questions you already ask Claude. A retailer preparing a monthly sales summary, or a training coordinator building session slides, can ask for both from one conversation and get a document and a matching deck out of it, without learning a second tool or paying for extra software.
