ChatGPT Training Provider in Malaysia: How to Choose the Right One (2026)

ChatGPT Training Provider in Malaysia: How to Choose the Right One (2026)

    Quick Summary

    • Demand for ChatGPT training in Malaysia has jumped as companies realise the tool is only as useful as the team using it.
    • A good provider is judged on hands-on practice time, a practitioner trainer, real business use cases and HRDC claim support, not the brand name on the slides.
    • HRDC-registered employers can fund ChatGPT training through their levy via SBL-Khas, applied for before the training date.
    • NextGen Training Academy is a Sabah-based, HRD Corp registered provider that has trained over 1,000 students and 100+ businesses, with public workshops in Kota Kinabalu and in-house training nationwide.

A year or two ago, "ChatGPT training" mostly meant a curious manager watching a YouTube video. Now it is a line item in HR budgets. Companies across Malaysia are booking formal training because they have noticed the gap: some staff use ChatGPT to save hours a week, and others open it once, get a mediocre answer, and never touch it again. The difference is almost never the tool. It is whether someone taught them how to use it properly. That is what a ChatGPT training provider is supposed to fix, and it is worth being fussy about who you pick.

Why companies are searching for a ChatGPT training provider now

Three things are pushing this. First, leadership pressure: owners and department heads see competitors moving faster and want to know why their own team is not. Second, the tools have matured, ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini are genuinely good at business writing, research and analysis now, so the return on learning them properly is real, not hype. Third, HRD Corp levy funds exist for exactly this kind of upskilling, and a lot of companies would rather use money they already paid in than let it sit unused. Put those three together and "find us a ChatGPT training provider" becomes a normal request on an HR manager's desk.

What separates a good training provider from a mediocre one

    • Hands-on time. Staff should be typing prompts and getting results for most of the session, not watching a presenter click through slides about what ChatGPT is.
    • A practitioner trainer, not a professional presenter. Someone who uses these tools in a real business daily teaches workflows; someone who does not teaches definitions.
    • Real business use-cases. Emails, quotations, reports, customer replies, marketing content and document summaries, the actual tasks your team does every day.
    • Post-training support. What happens after 5pm on the training day? A provider who disappears the moment the certificate is issued leaves your team to figure the rest out alone.
    • HRD Corp registration, so the course is HRDC-claimable and the provider can guide you through the paperwork instead of leaving you to work it out with e-TRiS on your own.
    • Materials you keep. Prompt libraries, templates and cheat sheets that outlive the training day, so the learning does not evaporate a week later.

Questions to ask before you book

    1. How much of the day is hands-on practice versus presentation?
    2. Is the course HRD Corp registered, and will you help with the grant application?
    3. What will my team be able to DO differently after the training, specifically?
    4. Do you customise examples to our industry, or is it the same generic deck for everyone?
    5. Can this be delivered in-house for our whole team, and what does that cost per head?
    6. What do participants take home, prompt libraries, templates, recordings?

    HRDC claimability, briefly

If your company is registered with HRD Corp and pays the monthly training levy, ChatGPT training from a registered provider can usually be funded from that levy rather than fresh cash, most commonly through the SBL-Khas scheme. The one rule that trips people up: apply for the grant through e-TRiS before the training takes place, not after. A provider that is used to HRDC claims will walk you through this instead of leaving you to work it out alone.

    What NextGen offers

I will be upfront about where we fit, since this is a guide about choosing a provider, not just a pitch. NextGen Training Academy is an HRD Corp registered AI training provider based in Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. We have trained more than 1,000 students and worked with over 100 businesses, and our public workshops carry a 100% recommend rate across 41 Facebook reviews. ChatGPT is one of the core tools we teach, alongside Claude, Google Gemini and NotebookLM, in our Master AI for Work Productivity workshop (one day, RM788 self-funded or RM888 HRDC-claimable). Sessions are hands-on for most of the day, built around real business tasks, and delivered in English and Bahasa Malaysia.

For a whole team, in-house corporate training is usually better value than sending people to public classes one by one, and we run it anywhere in Malaysia, not only in Sabah, from Kuala Lumpur to Johor to Penang. We are based in KK, but the training is not limited to KK.

The best ChatGPT training is not the one with the fanciest slides. It is the one your team is still using on Monday morning.from Edison Chua

If you are comparing providers, ask the questions above of anyone you are considering, us included. If you want to talk through what would fit your team, message us on WhatsApp at 011-3204 4931 with your team size and what your people spend their days doing, and we will recommend a format honestly, even if that means a smaller starting point than you had in mind.
