Quick Summary
- OpenAI and ServiceNow expanded their partnership on 28 October 2026 so ChatGPT can investigate issues and update ServiceNow records without switching apps.
- New capabilities include a joint cybersecurity tool, a Codex integration for building ServiceNow apps, and a voice feature for describing an AI use case out loud.
- Oracle also announced an AI SMB Bundle pairing ChatGPT Business and Codex with its own apps and cloud credits, aimed at small businesses.
- xAI's own sales team built three Shared Bots, Account Intel Bot, Quote Bot and Deal Bot, to automate account research, quoting and deal review.
OpenAI and ServiceNow expanded their partnership on 28 October 2026, so ChatGPT can now investigate problems, update records and resolve IT tickets and security issues directly inside ServiceNow's workflow software, the system many growing companies already run for IT support, without switching between apps or waiting on another team to make the change.
What did OpenAI and ServiceNow announce?
The new integration brings ServiceNow's business context and workflow actions straight into a ChatGPT conversation. An IT staff member can find similar past incidents, check the risk of a change and update a ServiceNow record without opening a second tool. An on-call engineer can review monitoring alerts, see which systems are affected, assign the right team and work toward a fix, all inside the same chat. Each business keeps control: customers choose which capabilities to turn on, and ServiceNow's own permission rules decide what any one person's ChatGPT session is allowed to do.
AI becomes more useful when people can put it to work in the systems their businesses depend on. By bringing our models together with ServiceNow's workflows and business context, we're helping teams build software, address security risks and put AI to work across their organizations.from Greg Brockman, President and Co-founder, OpenAI (OpenAI, 28 October 2026)
What can ChatGPT actually do inside your business tools now?
OpenAI and ServiceNow describe three new areas of work.
- Application development: a planned Codex integration helps developers build and modernise ServiceNow apps using a company's own business data and platform rules.
- Cybersecurity: a joint tool combines OpenAI's cybersecurity models with ServiceNow's asset and identity data to find vulnerabilities, rank the risk and coordinate the fix.
- Voice: a staff member can describe an AI idea out loud, and ChatGPT fills in the assessment form and asks follow up questions on its own.
How could your business use this?
You do not need ServiceNow itself to benefit from the idea behind it. Software vendors across accounting, booking, point of sale and helpdesk tools are racing to let AI act inside their systems rather than just answer questions about them. A clinic's booking software, a retailer's inventory system or an accounting firm's invoicing tool may soon offer the same kind of connector: ask a question in plain language, and let the AI update the record itself, not just describe what to click next. Ask your current software vendors whether an AI connector, often built on the open MCP standard, is already on their roadmap before you build a separate workaround.
Also today
- Oracle is launching an AI SMB Bundle that pairs ChatGPT Business and Codex with Oracle's own business apps and cloud credits, aimed at small businesses that want to build tools and manage operations with AI (OpenAI).
- xAI's own sales team built three Shared Bots, called Account Intel Bot, Quote Bot and Deal Bot, to research accounts, prepare quotes and review deal terms, so every sales rep works from the same up to date playbook (xAI).
What to do this week
Pick one tool your business already pays for, whether it is an accounting package, a booking system or a helpdesk, and ask the vendor whether an AI connector is on its roadmap. If you want a structured way to set this up for your own team in Sabah, from everyday ChatGPT and Claude use through to MCP connectors and scheduled tasks, that is exactly what our AI Tool Mastery for Work Productivity program covers.
Common Questions
- What is the OpenAI and ServiceNow partnership?
- OpenAI and ServiceNow expanded a partnership first announced in January 2026 so ChatGPT can investigate issues, take workflow actions and update records directly inside ServiceNow, the IT and operations software many growing companies already run, instead of switching between separate tools to get the same job done.
- Can a small business use this kind of AI automation?
- Yes. You do not need ServiceNow itself. Oracle announced an AI SMB Bundle the same week that pairs ChatGPT Business and Codex with its own small business apps and cloud credits, and in Malaysia many accounting, booking and helpdesk vendors are adding similar AI connectors to their own software.
- Is it safe to let ChatGPT take action inside business software?
- ServiceNow's Action Fabric applies each organisation's existing business rules and permissions, so ChatGPT can only take actions a staff member is already allowed to take inside the system, and OpenAI says sensitive or unusual changes still require a person's review before anything happens.
